I've been watching the DVD on John Adams that was shown on HBO a few months ago. I read the book by David McCullough just before we went out to Massachusetts to visit Valerie. While we were there we went to Quincy to see the houses where he lived. Thomas went with us and was very well behaved. The little brown house pictured is the house his family lived when he was born. The lighter house pictured is the house he lived in with Abigal. They are about 20 feet apart, the the very middle of the city. Of course it was not like that when they lived and farmed there. The large white house is the one they lived in after he was president.
Anyway, the DVD is wonderful and should be required viewing for everyone in this country. How inspiring to come to understand a little bit the dedication and sacrifice of each of the men who brought our country into being. It makes me very thankful for them and for living in this country.
