Bruce and his family came over from Denver on Tuesday, Oct. 27 because the girls were out of school for Fall break. They got out of Denver just in time, as there was a huge snowstorm that night, up to 3 feet of snow in some places. Wednesday morning we woke up to lots of snow here - in Moab! before Halloween! I looked out the window and couldn't believe it.
We got out my box of flannel fabric scraps and spent a good part of the morning looking through the pieces. The girls picked out what they wanted and we spent the rest of the day hand sewing the fabric into pillows and stuffing them. Shaye had one piece of lavender she sewed into a pillow. Then she sewed a label on it, which said "made by Shaye". Fallow wanted to piece her pillow with light blue, dark blue and yellow. She worked with dedication and ended up with a very nice pillow.
Thursday, we spent a lot of time rolling and cutting out cookies, then the girls frosted them. By the afternoon, it was warmish outside and we went downtown to look through the shops. Friday, they packed up and at noon we went to town for a Mexican lunch, then Bruce and his family left for Denver. They left Denver before the storm and went back just missing it, as it had been snowing a little the whole time they were gone. It was a fun time.

way to get the girls started, mom!
Absolutely. I was actually surprised when Fallon wanted to piece her pillow top, rather than just using a plain piece and I thot it turned out well.
Fallon and Shaye both concentrated on the sewing until they were finished. They didn't need prodding or reminding.
I'm about to pretend to be your granchild and come for a visit! Sewing lessons and cookies sound perfect!
Esther - come on out!!!love to see you and your family
