In our quilt guild we have challenges, quilts to be made using simple directions that we can interpret using our own imaginations. The quilts have to be about 120 inches in diamerter or smaller. Then they are displayed in the Moab museum through May and June.

One year the criteria was simply "food". That year I made a small wall hanging with an eggplant pictured and Val has that hanging in her kitchen. Last year we did quilts about written or oral stories. I pictured that one in an earlier post. It was the one with children pictured and balloons, kites etc above and the poem was from the book "Attic of the Wind".

This year the challenge was "word play" and the example was to find something similar to "cow pie" where the quilt could be a picture of cows in a pie plate or something like that.

So these are my two quilts this year. We were supposed to put the title on the back and at the April meeting we will display our quilts to see if others can guess the word play used. Can you guess what these quilts say.

One is "fan club" and the other is "picture purr-fect". Fan club uses the fan quilt block shaped around the club from a deck of cards. The other is a picture with a black silhouette cat looking at it. They were fun to make.
