We were in a quilt store in Colorado, I rode over with Vere, Lou, and RoseAnn to pick up something Lou wanted. As part of the trip I asked if we could just look in at the fabric shop there. While I was looking around, Vere found this fabric and asked if I'd make a quilt for him. How could I say no. The center part is a panel, and the material around it is just unpieced fabric. I did make a strip of pieced material to outline the center panel and make a border. The bottom pictures show where the fabric cut off the fishes heads or tails, I appliqued fish over onto the border so there wouldn't be parts of fish here and there. It looks pretty good in the (formerly) red bedroom.
Vere's brother, DeVern died very suddenly in his sleep a little over a year ago. He and his wife, Teryl, had been working for a company that was building a power plant on a Carribean (sp) island the last couple of years. They had stacks of these t-shirts, such bright, beautiful fabric, and not a bit worn. So I made a lap sized quilt for Teryl. The smaller pieces on the right were on the front and I just added a lont row of them for variety.

this is the back of the flannel shirt quilt.
A friend from church lost her husband a few months ago, very suddenly. I volunteered to make her a quilt from his t-shirts. She said he didn't really have any t-shirts but he did wear flannel shirts all the time and they were worn, so not appropriate for giving to resale stores. But she thot she might like a quilt out of them . As I was working on this quilt, I wasn't sure how it would look. But now it's done, I rather like it. I used the large pieces from the backs for the back of the quilt. It's warm and cuddly, and should last awhile even tho the material is old.
