Making fabric letters for the grandbabies. First I draw the letter, about 6 inches high on plaid fabric, cut it out with generous extra fabric around the letter. Make the quilt "sandwich" with heavy decorator fabric on the bottom and double thickness batting in the middle. Then calm that heavy batting down with lots of sewing wiggly lines. This creates a rather stiff, thick letter for the kids to play with. Val's idea.
