Cochlear implant, December 2015
I asked the doctor about what my implant looked like and he came back with this plastic example of the size and shape. This is what is implanted under the skin of my head behind my left ear. The squarish part is what houses the computer chip. My finger is pointing at the part where the wire sticks out and goes over to the part of my brain that controls hearing. The round part is the strong magnet that holds onto the part that is outside, the part with another strong magnet that has the battery inside that has to be changed about every 10 days. Wouldn't want to open my head back up every time the battery has to be changed.

Super interesting!
Crazy what modern medicine can do. I'm so so so excited that it's already working somewhat. Love you, Mom.
