This quilt has been on my list for at least 5 years and I finally got it made, mostly in the last days of 2016. It's called "Twirling Triangles", a pattern from the Fons and Porter Love of Quilting Magazine.
I wish I could do the quilting on a quilt like this, but when I have a big quilt that I want done up fancy, I pay a long-armer to quilt it for me. It's expensive, but a long arm machine would cost about the same as paying for 100 quilts. And then I'd have to learn how to use it and practice, practice, practice before I could make it as pretty as this quilt is.
The quilt is made with 1930 retro fabrics, which I really love, I used some big pieces of the retro fabric, along with plain blues for the back.In cutting the pieces for the "Twirling Triangles", I was left with a whole stack of long triangles and I wasn't about the throw all that material away. I sewed the white pieces to the colored pieces, squared them up, and sewed them into this cute little quilt. The backing is some fabric I had that is perfect.
