stitches

I went in to the doctor yesterday and had stitches removed from my surgery. The nurse said it looked beautiful. But I won't gross you out with a picture of it. I got a smaller brace that I have to wear for 5 weeks. But it is removable and I can use my hand in the shower, etc. The doctor explained to me 3 things he looks for when he opens up the place for carpal tunnel surgery. He said that if the nerve looks white and round, the recovery will be quick because there is little damage. If the nerve is flattened, but still white, it will take a little longer to round out, and recover. But if the nerve is flattened (squeezed or compressed) and red, it will take a longer time to recover. Guess what, my nerve was flat and red. That's why my fingers still tingle, but they should be better sometime soon. Am looking forward to being able to type, play the piano, quilt etc. without taking up so much time - soon.

Amen to Valerie's statement. Do exactly what your doctor tells you to do. Doctors know what they're talking about!!! Love, MKG
