This is a cactus in front of our house. I stuck it in the ground a few years ago. Mike Hamberlin gave it to me when we were at their house in New Mexico. It was very small then. He also told me I should put down black plastic to keep the weeds out and cover that with rocks and I'd never have to work on that patch of yard again. It's been years and I'm still working on my "Rock Garden". The commercial weed inhibiter sheets did not keep the hardy desert weeds from finding their way through. Section by section I've been pulling the rocks away and covering the ground again, this time with layers of newspaper.

Because of this, I have this big, beautiful cactus plant, but no babies from it.
