We have this huge L shaped area in the house which leads from the kitchen, past the table and into the "den" with the tv and book shelves and into the "computer room" then Vere's "office" and the final area is my sewing alcove. The whole room combination had a popcorn ceiling which looked all right, except people object to it when you go to sell the house. I've been thinking that if and when we go to sell the house, we might as well be as ready as possible. Besides, it was starting to crack, as pictured on the last picture here. I knew it would take us forever to do it ourselves. Besides, there is a young man at church, son of a good friend, who is starting out in his own business. I knew Vere would love to hire him, and this is a perfect job. Our job was to move the furniture. Tyler finished the first half in two days - that is, scrape off popcorn, put up texture, sand, paint three coats. Amazing! We asked him which ladders he wanted to use, he said he was thinking of doing it without a ladder. He's comfortably tall (meaning tall, but not too tall). These pictures are of the second half of the job when all my sewing stuff and the computer, office etc are stacked in the tv room.
He did the second half in two days and we lived with the dusty mess one Sunday, then spent four whole days putting things back, dusting carefully first, vacuuming, organizing. It was agonizing. But now it's done and I'm very pleased. It was worth it and now I can get back to my life.
