This is the Place!!

Jill and Chris came out for the week and we left Moab (and the Jeep Safari tourists) and drove to SLC for the weekend. We walked around B YU Campus in Provo, then Temple Square and the new shopping mall in SLC. Sunday morning, Sonya reminded us of This is the Place Monument and we were able to find it. I remembered it as being very far out of town, but by now the town has grown up, surrounding it.
This is the gate leading to the Pioneer Village which we didn't get into.

Pioneers giving thanks for reaching the SL valley.

This is the monument with Brigham Young on the top. Vere is front in the brown shirt. You can see the whole SL valley from up here.

On the grounds was this series of plaques. If you donated a tree you could have a name put on the plaques. I was just looking, and found our ancester, Jesse Wentworth Crosby.

Hannah Elida Balwin Crosby, Jesse Wentworth's wife. We might not have connected Hannah to Jesse, except that Friday night when Jill and Chris came, we were looking through the family history book I have and were reading some things about the Crosby family and had seen the names then.
