Making of a quilt, Use up squares

When I make a quilt, if I have smallish pieces, I cut them into squares - 2 inch or 2 1/2 inch.  Over time I collect a lot of squares.  I had this box full, I've been sewing them together like this into 9-patch blocks.  I can sit for hours and sew.  9-Patch blocks are easy and fun to make.  I end up with stacks of blocks.

I can make quilts like this with as many blocks I have.  Then I have to face it, I have to do the final stage, find backing, batting and make the quilts.  For newborns at church I will put blues together for boy quilts, pinkish ones for the girls and scrappy for my friend in NJ who has been mentioning that she wore out the last quilt I made her, 15 years ago.
