This is a string quilt made from some of my plaid fabrics. A string quilt is strips of fabric sewn to a foundation of paper or fabric. If you use paper, you use light weight paper like from an old phone book, and it's just to give you a form for the square or rectangular block. When the pieces are sewn you square up the block, then tear away the paper. On this one, I used light weight muslin and it was left on the quilt. It made the quilt heavy, so I didn't quilt it with batting, I used plaid fabric squares for the back. I kinda like the plaids used this way.
