May, 2022, Double Wedding Ring quilt repair - Crib size, double 9 patch

A friend in the quilt guild had this quilt her grandmother had made.  It's called a "Double Wedding Ring" and is one of the hardest blocks to make.  My friend said it needed some repair, and I said I'd look at it, expecting the material to be shredded.  It was amazingly in good shape.  Some of the seams had popped open and the batting was peeking out.  I blind sewed them together.  The biggest problem was that the quilt had been tied, and most of the ties were worn away/missing.  I spent 3 weeks of my sewing time, retying the entire quilt.  It had not been tied at all in the large white parts and I had to resmooth the batting out that had shifted, and blind tied that.  A Really big quilt, it will be good for many more years.

This crib sized quilt I made from my boxes of 1 1/2 inch squares.  I concentrated on using blues and some  yellow for a boys quilt.  The pattern is called Double 9 Patch.  This will go to the "Project Linus" charity which gives quilts to sick children.  See the back, it is special Project Linus material donated from the local fabric store.  Look closely for Snoopy dressed in uniforms.  Cute.
