This quilt is called a "string quilt" made from strips of plaid fabric. I had a huge box full of strips to use up. You use a foundation of either fabric or paper, sew the strips together on the foundation and then square the edges up. The squares are then sewn together. This one I used light weight fabric 6 1/2" squares for foundation. This makes it heavy enough I didn't need batting, but still it's a light weight quilt. This kind of quilt isn't fancy, handy for stowing in a car for picnics or emergencies.
