2020, Wall Hanging for guild challenge

In the last post, I wanted to say the bottom picture is the backing for the "string quilt" made from plaids I had.

This quilt is made in response to the annual guild challenge.  The quilts are then shown in the town museum in May and June, a very popular display.  It wasn't shown this year as the museum was closed for the Covid 19 virus lock down.  Hopefully the show will be on next year.

Anyway, the challenge was to do something, anything sized 12" x 48".  I used this opportunity to do a English Paper Piecing.  Each piece is wrapped around a heavy paper pattern, basted into shape, then hand stitched to another piece.  The whole thing was hand done, of course, and I hand quilted it also.  Rather than cut off any fabric, I appliqued the edge to a strip of black for a straight edge.  It was a lot of fun, but I can't imagine doing a really big quilt with this method.
